About Us
Abraham Bahat
I am a Rolf's Structural Integrator since 1990. I received my first training from Dr. Ed Maupin in 1989. That same year I also opened my school for training therapists in holistic approaches where I taught my treatment method which was an integration between Dr. Rolf's Structural Integration and the Trager Approach on a platform of holistic massage with a body-mind orientation. It is a Touch and Movement Therapy – the Bahat Method. The full training in the method lasted 3 years, after which there was the possibility to specialize in one of three options: 1. Rolf's structural integration, 2. Movement therapy, 3. Trager Approach.
In 2007 I conducted the first complete training of Rolf's structural integration both among graduates of my school and in the Netherlands at a parallel school for Touch and Movement Therapy in Amsterdam.
Since 2015, I have also become a full and official teacher of the Trager approach on behalf of Trager International organization and I conduct trainings in the method both in Israel and abroad.
I began my journey in treatment methods with the Paula method - natural gymnastics, which in honor of studying this method I moved to Tel Aviv (1984 ) from Yodfat in the Galilee where I was engaged in farming including organic farming.
Originally I was born in Jerusalem in 1957.
Inspired by Dr. Ed Maupin, I studied Gestalt Therapy at Tel Aviv University and other treatment methods, but the focus of my work was always the Structural Integration of Dr. Rolf. Treating through the ten-treatment series and into them I integrate my understanding and development from other directions such as the Trager Approach and other approaches which refers to the mind-body connection like Emotional Orthopedics and others.
Parallel to my professional development, for many years I have been going through development processes related to the essence of our life on earth, to understanding the purpose and meaning of life, and among other things I studied with the Zen teacher (Dukisan), with a healer - Dorothy Smith and her meditation groups, in Gurdjieff's groups, Rafi Rosen's Biorogonomy method and in recent years at the Cosmic University and the Luhar Tika method.
At the foundation of my concept is the connection between body, mind and spirit, - understanding the meaning of illness and difficulty as an opportunity for development. Understanding the connection between Posture, movement and an existential experience in the body (feeling). Cultivating these aspects for a better and meaningful life!

I was born in the United States but lived in Israel for about 15 years. Before diving into the specific details, I would like to tell you what led me to specialize in Structural Integration.
While serving in the Israeli Navy's Shaytet 3 Navel Corvettes. I had an accident where I fell from an AMLACH platform onto the ship. In that fall, the straps of my right ankle were almost torn apart, and I had a hard time walking on that leg for over 8 months.
Since I didn't receive proper treatment, my right ankle didn't heal, and for thirteen years afterward, I continued to injure the ankle frequently. I always had to wear tightly laced high boots to stabilize it. After ten Structural Integration treatments (almost three months), my ankle healed. I discovered this when I found myself standing barefoot with a stable ankle (I always needed to wear shoes to go to the restroom). After 13 years of pain and lack of confidence in my ability to stand on my own feet, the change was incredible!
- I998, I decided to study body therapy at IPSB College. In
- 1999, I began studying and practicing Structural Integration.
- 2000, I completed the Holistic Health Practitioner program with a primary focus on Structural Integration.
- 2001, I received a Bachelor's degree in Holistic Medicine and joined the teaching staff of Structural Integration at Intitute for Psycho Structural Balance (IPSB). Currently, I am a senior practitioner in Structural Integration
Both Avraham and I studied with our mentor Dr. Ed Maupin and I taught with him Rolf Structural Integration in San Diego for 17 years starting as an apprentice teacher and over the years becoming the head of the Rolf Structural Integration department at IPSB. Dr. Maupin is a true inspiration and is still teaching Rolf Structural Integration to this day at the age of 86… He has been a true inspiration for me and yet, he was the teacher that taught me the least… yet I learned the most from…
I have authored and co-authored the following books:
- A Dynamic Relationship to Gravity Vol. 1: Elements of Structural Integration
- A Dynamic Relationship to Gravity Vol. 2: The 10 sessions of Structural Integration
- Adaptive Bodywork: Active pain relief and human Structural Integration
The book presented to you serves as the study guide for this course. Our book is used for studying Structural Integration in various schools of Structural Integration throughout the United States. Additionally, I am the co-author of the book "Adaptive Bodywork: Human Structural Integration."
